Sunhouse - Climate Friendly Nursery
The nursery is built on 'Active House' principles and is another example of how considered architectural design and integrated energy technologies are the recipe for sustainable architecture. A special effort to include the children of the nursery has been made. The shed housing tools and bicycles for playground fun are equipped with outdoor pedals, the children has to collaborate in producing energy for the shed in order to get light inside.
Windows and roof lights allow more than three times as much light to enter as in a standard building, ensuring a healthy indoor climate at all times, summer and winter. The terminology of an ‘Active House’ is based on holistic thinking, and at the Sunhouse the geometry, position of windows and range of state of the art green technologies all work together to create the zero-energy building.
