New K.B. Hall - Concert, event and sports hall

When the K.B. Hall burned to the ground in 2011 Frederiksberg Municipality lost an iconic building. Since its inauguration in 1938, the multi-purpose venue has played host to some of the world´s most famous sports names, musicians and politicians.

This is where Winston Churchill received The Order of The Elephant, the highest order of Denmark, the Beatles played the K.B. Hall and international tennis- and badminton tournaments are regulars on the annual calendar.

We won the architectural competition to re-build the K.B. Hall in 2015. Our new building design draws strong visual references to the original building and the history of the place. The new K.B. Hall will have up-to-date modern acoustics and the main Hall is expanded to a 4.900 people capacity.

The hall is withdrawn from the street, and the space in front will have an active urban court for public use, including benches and outdoor fitness. Surrounding the hall, the tennis courts and football field will have easy connection and proximity to the hall and changing rooms.
