Uppsala Trade Centre

A new city silhouette

Situated near the railway, Uppsala Trade Centre will house a wealth of activities – from business premises, fitness facilities and a food court to conference venues and student accommodation. A bridge for bicycles and pedestrians cross the railway and connects the old city centre with the new industrial area of Uppsala. The four buildings are designed as towers with angled roofs, creating a silhouette that connects the centre with the city. As part of the main architectural concept, the towers reflect Uppsala’s classic city blocks, with the surrounding streets ‘slicing’ their way into the plot. At the centre, the building opens up into a wood-clad courtyard. At first-floor level, the publicly accessible courtyard with mature trees create life at the heart of the centre. Underneath, a 2,000 square-metre food court is placed as a shared lunch facility for all the offices, intended as a new food venue for the city.
