Bio diversity, urban variation and sustainability are the central elements in this new urban development on an impressive area of reclaimed land with a 1.5 km long beach promenade along Eisel Meer just north of Amsterdam.
In order to keep the existing landscape with its forests and wetlands while developing a vibrant urban area the project keeps the majority of the buildings in dense clusters. The high risers will provide the development with a distinctive skyline that will be visible from Amsterdam and allow ample of space of nature. Areas of low rise buildings are located on stilts in the wetlands and the dense forests.
Almere encompasses a ground breaking mixed landscape and urban development in which physical activity and man-made landscape all of which is seamless integrated into a specific sustainable strategy.
The project was made in collaboration with BVR urban planners and ZUS Landscape Architects.
